My passion for working with people, combined with creative design and technical expertise in everything I do assures you a well-designed, creative project. With over 30 years of design industry experience, I have extensive experience with cabinets, flooring, furniture, and draperies.

I bring to my clients an understanding of the construction process as well as trusted relationships with local contractors, trade partners, and architects. This unique combination will provide you with exceptional results.

When designing, I pay close attention to your needs and preferences. We will work together to create beautiful functional spaces that perfectly reflect your personality and compliment your lifestyle.

I believe in giving back to our community and am passionate about helping those less fortunate. I am actively involved at my Church as well with FM Home Builders Association and Rotary International. Serving others has become a cornerstone value that Design Direction’s success has been and will continue to be built on.

A Fargo resident, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Christina Mehl | Interior Designer

As an interior designer, I help take the stress of building and remodeling off of my clients by working with them to design a space that they love to walk into each day. Through space planning, selecting finishes from flooring and tile to paint and window treatments, to working with trades people, I enjoy working with my clients to make their dreams a reality.

While I grew up in Fargo, I spent several years of my childhood as an MK (missionary kid) in Russia and Ukraine. It was during this time of living in the former Soviet Union that I began to cultivate a love for color, fabrics and design as a whole. I was often found sewing throw pillows to cozy up a room or called upon to dig through my fabric stash to find material to use for curtains or other projects.

After returning to the United States in my teen years, I finished high school and pursued other interests prior to returning to college to gain my Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design. My free time is spent with family and friends and staying busy through my involvement with various organizations including the Home Builders Association, NDID (North Dakota Interior Designers), and Russian Harvest Ministries.

Delrae Schefter | Interior Designer

I enjoy meeting people and visiting with them about their project to establish design solutions for their home or office.  My goal is to make sure a client has a well thought out design plan which reflects their personality and fits within their timeline and budget. I have many years of experience in custom window treatments, furnishing layouts and selections, lighting, accessorizing, wallcovering, paint and flooring.  I can help a customer as little or as much as they need on a project.  If a client would like to work in phases I will help them to prioritize the stages of the project. Most importantly, I treasure the friendships I have made over the past 30 years working in the design field.

I graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. I have spent most of my years living in the Fargo/Moorhead area where my husband and I raised our family. On my free time I like to play with my dog, garden, crochet, read and spend time with family and friends at the lake in Minnesota.

Leah Vikander | Interior Design Assistant

I assist the designers in all aspects of their projects. From floor plans and choosing materials, to visiting the job site.

I am passionate about all areas of residential design and helping clients in any way that I can. Understanding the client’s needs and finding creative ways to achieve their goal has always been my goal as a designer.

I am a graduate of North Dakota State University with a degree in Interior Design and a minor in Business. I have been working at Design Direction as a part time design assistant since January and have learned so much in a short amount of time. With the information and skills, I have learned from NDSU and working full time at Design Direction after graduation, I am excited for this new chapter of my professional career.

In my free time I enjoy golfing, spending time at the lake with family and friends, reading and traveling. A fun fact about me is I got my first hole in one when I was in 8th grade.
